Dentition: The teeth present in the mouth.
Maxilla: The upper jaw.
Maxillary teeth: The 16 teeth present in the upper jaw.
Mandible: The lower jaw.
Mandibular teeth: The 16 teeth present in the lower jaw.
Permanent dentition (adult dentition): The permanent teeth in the mouth, comprised of 32 total teeth, 16 upper and 16 lower. These are the second set of teeth to develop.
Anterior: Referring to teeth and tissues located towards the front of the mouth. Anterior teeth include upper and lower incisors and canines.
Posterior: Referring to teeth and tissues towards the back of the mouth (distal to the canines), including premolars and molars.
